Residents Must Be Alert and Conscious to Manage Security Glitches - DPO
Daniel Joseph
The Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) Topon Police Station, Ijebu-Igbo, CSP Kotonu, yesterday said that the residents of Ifesowapo CDA, Ijebu-Igbo should be alert and conscious to manage possible security glitches that may happen during the election period.
Speaking on the theme; “The Role of Community Policing in
Community Development”, the DPO, who was represented at the CDA’s New Year event
by DSP Adesina Oki, the DCO of Topon Police Station, said that it was important for the people to be security
conscious, especially during a sensitive period like the upcoming elections.
Oki said “Residents need to take note of every detail they notice on the election day so as to prevent any security issue that may cause havoc during the election process. Unfortunately, we are short-staffed, but we are doing our best to make Ijebu-Igbo crime-free. We only need the Ijebu-Igbo people's cooperation so we can have a successful election in the town. The people should build mutual relationships among themselves so that when issues come up, it will be easy to inform the Police and we can swiftly take charge appropriately.”
Oki further elaborated on the effectiveness of community policing and the police force itself in the community and nation at large. He said community policing helps in stopping crime and when residents give Police needed information, it helps to solve security challenges faced by the community. He advised that any form of suspected movements during and post-elections from strangers should be reported immediately to the Police.
He
further assured the people of Ifesowapo CDA that
plans and strategies are already in
place to ensure maximum security of lives and properties, especially during the forthcoming elections.
Nice 👍
